What is this rack used for ??

I've seen quite a few of these racks on boats back east what are they used for ?? I'm guessing high flyer or gaff racks ??

34 Calvin beal. I believe it is on the classifieds on here.
They have racks like that on the Gillnet boats here in town for the high flyers. With that said I dont see any need for high flyers on that boat.

Harpoons. That boat is setup to stick.

Forgot about harpoons ?? but the high flyer rack makes sense. I had a big aluminum hoop on the back roof of my lobster boat to stick high flyers through.

I would be worried about harpoons finding their way out of that in rough seas with no visible way to secure them... I guess a couple of bungies would solve that though.

Could also be for a high flyer to clip on if the zapper doesn't work. I dont see any where else to put a few harpoons though. Maybe someone that's been on the boat knows.

That is a harpoon rack and yes they are strapped down when stored up there, more so used when the pulpit is on and they were sticking.
That is the Chatham fish pier. We were fueling up for the next day.
The resident seals loved us that day as we had pogies we were feeding them.

The seals in chatham are unreal. The seals right at the dock are monsters. Nice boat..howd you guys do?

Only odd thing I see is the location of the raft. Having a tower over the raft and expecting it to find it way out of that gauntlet when the release pops is rolling the dice. Kind of like finding boats with epirbs mounted on the inside......
