We needed to stop by Bass Harbor and have Robert our Electronics guy work a couple of the bugs out of the Furuno A/P and NavNet setup he had installed on our Duffy. Which he did and all works great now...thank you very much Robert!

Anyways we're idling around the mooring field in amongst the lobster boats waiting for Robert to come down and jump onboard...when we notice three of the locals just staring and giving us the "stink eye" like we were doing something wrong. If stares were daggers we'd all be dead...this went on for almost 45 minutes until we motored away, they finally turned got in their pickups and drive off! WTF? It wasn't like they were checking the new Duffy out or anything, more like pissing on the ground and marking territory.

I'm pretty thick skinned and not bothered much by it, just curious don't they like other white folks up there in Bass Harbor?

Not unheard of. I'd guess that the three were in their mid-20s. Under-employed or unemployed. Like groups of teens, the group's collective, IQ average drops precipitously from that of the individual. Forget it - it was them, not you.

we were on the northwest side where all the Lobstermen moor up their boats and store gear on floats.

I'd guess the three guys were in 40's/50's and definitely fish for a living....made it quite clear that we were tresspassing on their turf.

Sounds like these guys don't get out too much; they've probably lived there their entire life, they know every boat that "should" be in their harbor, and yours wasn't one of them. You should have pulled out the binoculars and stared back.

Best of luck with your new boat, just don't bring your Duffy into my harbor pal :D.

That's about how I figured it. Picked up my phone to take their picture but Nate asked me not to because of Robert the Electronics Guy being a local and all that, so I didn't shoot Larry Curly and Moe in their "bad Ass" Posse pose.

NoviVin...you might mention to your Boss that he should check the ventilation for his electronics panel, obviously he's not getting enough air in there to keep the NavNets cool. Fortunately they do shutdown when they over heat.
