Hoople preceded Googan

Hoople (sp) made the rounds years prior to the term googan in the montauk era circa 1980's. Same exact meaning of both terms. Was utilized mainly on party boats. When a group of "hooples" got on a party boat, they were lead by a "head hoople". I believe i even have a few sinkers we had ingraved with the "hoople" monicker on them.

We all start out as googans, although much tougher to spot, as everyone has learned how to dress in hellys and grundens.

You can tell the "pukers" as we call them here by the way they wear the rain gear, they have the jackets tucked into the pants and the pants cuffs tucked into their boots !!!
