So who has them ?
I’ve got 4 new rods being built with all Winthrop guides and went for the Winthrop adjustable buts.
It appears to me the bottom that goes into the rod holder is a smaller diameter than Aftco, Alps & other 130 buts.
Went on of friends boat a week ago for the chance to fish his rods (same rods & Winthrop guides & Buts I’m getting.
We hooked up and I fought the fish the whole time.
It was a real snotty day and at one point the rod lifted out of the rod holder and if not for the leash being attached we may have lost the rod/rod overboard.
I should mention my friend fishes Avet 80 reels filled with braid -top shot-leaders & his swivels are all 15 degree, I have all Tiagra 130s which are quite a bit heavier than 80 Avet reels.
Anyone using some kind of Friction tape or something like black hockey tape on the bottom 12-14” of the buts or something else to prevent the rod sliding up.
The 33 Flowers has 10 LD 15 degree swivels and I just replaced att the liners but considering taking them back out and putting straight lengths of car/truck radiator hose.
I had a handful of my LD swivels on the 28 BHM I put radiator hose, rods never slid up.
I'm also interested in responses. I have the lt 0 degrees that are being installed on my boat now. How hard is it to swing the rod at the end game with the 15 degree? I'm one for the least amount of moveable parts so I will stick with non adjustable. Shits gonna loosen
KB whete i told you to get the bluefish, there have been several great whites there every day. They are in about 15 to 18 feet of water. Mornings, lower tide on the sandy bottom. Get under the birds for the bluefish.
