I have been working with a machinist at my marina to turn some down for me as well. We are researching different materials that will hold up better than the original inserts. If you have time I hope to have a few sets made before the season begins.

    Good.
Now I don't have to make a set for Tuckerman (Miss Daisy.)

Last set I did for outriggers I just used PVC.

Yeah Bryan, We were looking at a few different types of plastics to give the hardness necessary and UV protection so they would not break down in the sun.

    Delrin?

I just used pvc because it was easy.

Been on the boat 3 seasons now.

The problem with Delrin is that it has no UV protection and breaks down in the sun. PVC or STDS(softer than dog shit) isn't hard enough, this is why I don't have inserts yet. We are researching some different plastics that are hard enough and also have some UV protection along with being cost effective. Ideally it would be a thick wall pipe that we can turn and minimize waste.

What ID and OD? You may already know, but McMaster Carr has a great selection and material advise with material properties etc. Nylon, UHMW, PTFE?

Only ones there that say for outdoor use are PTFE and PVC.
