I have a 38’ Holland Lobster boat. Started noticing a rumble I believe is coming from the damper pate. I have a Cummins 6cta with a ZF 301 C. It goes away at 850 rpm, basically only present from 700-850 then smother right up. It’s a low groan/deep rattle noise. It happens under load and even out of gear. Any ideas? Engine was realigned, trans oil changed. Nothing changed.

thanks

Pull the plug on the bell housing adapter plate and see how much dust is in the flywheel housing.there shouldn’t be much at all it coupling is good. Fiber optic camera would help to take a peak.

Unknown hrs, at least 9k could possibly be more than that. I don’t remember it being so noticeable last season. With it happening in or out of gear I wonder if it’s related to my berry isolators. They were new two years ago. Maybe the rubber has stiffened up a bit and the increase in engine vibration is transferring to the damper plate at lower RPM when no real load is being applied to the transmission.
