If I were fishing for bluefin I’d be conflicted on having a platform, but then I’d also not want a stern bench. Since we only fish for bass and fluke it’s fine. For me the benefits far outweigh the detriments, which mainly consist of my whacking my head on it when painting the bottom and uneasiness with holes below the waterline. Big downeast fishing boats look great sans platforms.

I don’t have a swim platform and wish I did. Working off a mooring it is much easier getting in & out of the dinghy. And way easier getting the dogs in & out of the boat! Yup, it does drive up dockage and storage costs.

I have never “maintained” teak swim platforms. Let ‘em go gray and a very gentle cleaning every couple years.

I enjoy ours without a swim platform and find it easier for people to get from a dingy to the cockpit without having to crawl on the swim platform. (old People)

That’s a beautiful boat. What is she?
