Would you run repeated drifts this close by a boat that was anchored up on a small bump in the ocean before you got there? Feels like stupidity to me…

Seems like bad etiquette to me. Also is that a Fortier 26?

Almost at my anchor ball which is about 20’ in front of the boat. Yes on the Fortier 26!

"If he don't catch, his family goes without" ...... or some bs along those lines. Major bullshit drifting that close.

Quarter mile. Unless your up on southern Jeffrey's. Those guys like to get a little closer sometimes. I had a Mack boat drop his gear on my ball last year. He then set out a bait and wrapped my anchor line. Hauled it up with his 130 then dropped it. Didn't set right so I drifted back into my lines and had to haul everything and reset. Pissed me off.

Yep stupidity.

I assume this is just how life goes, but over time on the water things have generally changed for the worse.

Boats drifting in places where years ago you never would have gotten away with it.

Boats anchored in places where years ago you never would have gotten away with it.

Even on the beach, people showing up and trying to soak 2 rods worth of baits in places that everyone fishes with artificials - years ago nobody would have let it go on.

Basically, these unwritten rules allow everyone to get along, to fish around each other successfully. Lots of boats can anchor or drift an area in unison, up until one decides to do it differently.
