Sorry if I”m chiming in late here. Lou you keep saying Zincs are fine. Doesn’t that mean they aren’t doing what they are supposed to? So now something else is corroding instead of the Zincs? You should see some erosion of the zincs, if they look new they aren’t bonded so the next metal in line starts becoming your zinc. Sounds like stray current to me somewhere.
By fine i meant they are doing the job and yes they are eaten a bit. The entire bonding system was checked and im confident now the boat didn't create this problem. You can chime in all you want.

You will know if it was the boat the next time it goes out. If it repeats the problem again at a different location you know it’s the boat. If the problem doesn’t happen again you can me sure it was Aliens, Trump, Navy using a secret weapon, or Justin Biber.
Boat has been out. I guess i will never have an explanation but I sure would like one.

So a certified electrician with a meter [ actually an Electrical Engineering firm! ], said it's not the boat or stray current from your boat. Hope that makes you a believer and restores your confidence in your boat and it's builder. Look back at the pictures you took of the zincs, they have moderate surface crust so you wouldn't see that small a bit as is on the pictures of the crimps. Are the crimps made of zinc? I would guess not. Probably a different metal. As I said I'm an electrician not an engineer. But when I'm feeling really sick in a hospital, I tend to believe the doctor over the practical nurse. But they usually agree, one went to college the other to trade school both work the same job.
But back to Aliens and Crab farts and krill sulfuric acid shits. The USN is not in the habit of dumping hazardous waste overboard, and trump hasn't signed an executive order to do so yet. But someone could save a couple of bucks dumping some over the side rather than proper legal disposal methods if they think no one sees them. Maybe you just happened to run thru their wake a few hours later?
When I first started to fish offshore on LI NY we used to fish bluefish at a spot called the Acid Waters off NY harbor where they dumped. You could tell when you arrived as the water turned kelly green in a straight line across the wake. Bluefish loved it. Party boats loved it.
I'm ready to amend my vote to add illegal dumping to Aliens for my vote.
Looking forward to the laboratory results, the suspense to the story is palpable!
Congratulations on the boats clean bill of health from the doctor.

Worked the party and head boats out of Freeport and the acid waters were always productive. Fish love the aroma of rotting flesh. Another great spot was the outfall pipe from the sewage treatment plant off jones beach. Fish came with light pink gills and always smelled a little bit like bleach. Now I am next to Camp Lejeune in NC. More than once, while off shore during maneuvers, ALL of my navigations went black.

Small world. My landlord was Tony Dimao of Miss Freeport fame for a few years before I tried emigrating to Beaufort SC. Took a stint potting seabass on a shrimpper during the winter as no one wanted to go offshore. The Marine top gun school was down by Paris Island. They used to use the boat for a target for training attack and defend. F16 at speed at sea level you can't hear coming. Suprised and scared the shit out of me on deck.
Later on I was working a nuke outage in Baxley south Georgia and Tuesdays at 11AM they practiced on the plant. At least they stayed a mile to the side so they wouldn't crash into the plant.
I thought that could they be trying to run off the yankee? No just my big ego talking.
Any way the fish were too small, could run aground 5 miles offshore at low tide, 3-5 knot outgoing current in the Broad river so I came back to LI where I belonged.
Now everybody wants to move to suncity or hilton head. Got friends there.
The outfall was one of my favorite spots. Atlantic beach[Rockaway playland the site of Hog island before 1935 hurricane, and the Rota wreck and Gilgo for stripers.

Some of the best advice I have been given.

In my past experience if your an electrician your smarter than an engineer. Sometimes same goes for the nurse. Just because you went to college, doesn’t make you smart.
